The design of the second-generation Volkswagen Amarok dual-cab ute has been teased.
A sketch of the ute was shown briefly behind Volkswagen Group CEO Herbert Diess as he spoke.
The new Amarok will be one of the first fruits from the alliance between Volkswagen and Ford.
Announced last year, the two automakers will jointly develop a number of commercial vehicles.
On the global ute stage, Ford will lead development of the next-generation Ranger and Amarok utes, with the two models sharing a platform and many underlying parts.
It will be interesting to see how much differentiation there will be between the two utes.
The two automakers will also co-develop commercial vans.
Ford will use the Volkswagen MEB architecture underpinning the ID.3 hatchback for an electric vehicle for Europe.
This is not the first time Volkswagen and Ford have worked together.
In the mid-1990s, the two carmakers worked together to develop the Volkswagen Sharan and Ford Galaxy people movers for the European market.
