About the MG5
Last updated Dec 18, 2024The 2025 MG 5 small sedan remains relatively unchanged, although its price has increased by $1000 since its launch.
The MG 5 range now starts at $25,990 drive-away, maintaining its position as the most affordable car in its class. It even undercuts the drive-away pricing of the Mazda 2, the only other remaining sedan in the segment below. Additionally, it is priced just $1000 above the new-generation MG 3 hatchback.
An update is expected either later this year or next year, which will introduce various safety features following a zero-star rating from safety authority ANCAP in 2023.
MG sold 2252 units of its small sedan in the first half of 2024, surpassing the Subaru Impreza’s sales of 1078 units. It also nearly matched the sales of the smaller Mazda 2, which recorded 2446 sales.
The MG 5 marks the brand's re-entry into the small car segment in Australia, alongside the electric MG 4, which also launched locally in 2023.
