The LDV T60 is a great-looking and well-equipped dual cab ute that comes at a cheaper price than well-used HiLuxes and Rangers and best of all, it also has a five-star ANCAP safety rating and solid new-car warranty.
The subsequent addition of two Trailrider editions with an Aussie suspension tune added some credibility, and then the Mega Tub filled a genuine OEM void.
It's also the first electric ute in Australia.

The touchscreen doesn’t offer navigation unless you have an iPhone and can pair up Apple CarPlay, but it does offer decent graphics, Bluetooth/USB connections, and a reversing camera.
It’s quite a basic system, but at 10.25-inches offers plenty of real estate. The climate control is adjusted via the touch-sensitive black backlit panel below the screen which would be fiddlier to do in work gloves than regular buttons and dials.
Further down live two USB-A ports and a 12V socket, plus a phone stowage section.
The LDV T60 Max has a five-star rating from ANCAP, albeit with a 2017 datestamp.

The Luxe also features a surround-view camera and lane-departure warning.
The electric LDV eT60 EV is explicitly unrated.
There are no active driver-assists such as AEB or blind-spot monitoring available.
The 2023 LDV T60 Max uses 9.2L/100km on the combined cycle with the manual and 9.3L/100km with the auto, and has a 73L fuel tank.
The 2023 LDV T60 Max is powered by a 2.0-litre bi-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine producing 160kW of power at 4000rpm and 500Nm of torque between 1500 and 2400rpm.
It’s mated with either a six-speed manual or a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission.
All models have four-wheel drive, but there are two different suspension tunes: a heavy-duty one for the Pro, and a more comfort-focused one for the Luxe.

While the diesel models have a seven-year warranty, for some reason the electric eT60’s warranty is five years or 160,000km (whichever comes first), with roadside assist.
However the battery gets an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty.
Servicing intervals are long, every two years or 30,000km, which is another great upside for fleet operators.
