About the Hyundai Palisade
Last updated Dec 18, 2024Hyundai has left the Palisade SUV unchanged for the 2025 model year, but the top-tier variant will be slightly more expensive.
The flagship Calligraphy Black Ink model is now up to $1731 more expensive before on-road costs, while the range still starts at $66,800 plus on-road costs.
Specifications for 2025 do not change, though the Burgundy Sierra exterior paint option will be discontinued in August.
All Australian-spec Hyundai Palisade models continue to offer a choice between a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine and a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine.
The V6 is available exclusively with front-wheel drive, while the turbo-diesel comes only with all-wheel drive.
A new generation of Hyundai's largest SUV, codenamed LX3 and expected to feature hybrid power, was initially scheduled to begin production in January 2025.

2025 Hyundai Palisade Interior
The Palisade's interior features elegant pinstripes that sweep from the doors across the dashboard, creating a cohesive and refined cabin environment. Combined with high-quality materials, this design lends a premium feel despite the Palisade’s relatively lower price point for a large SUV.
The interior boasts beautiful finishes on the pillars, headliner, and even the covers for the sunroof and rear glass roof. Leather-accented trim adorns the doors, steering wheel, and seats, while the seat inlays are finished in suede. The front seats are equipped with heating, cooling, and electric adjustments for added comfort.
A minor inconvenience is the centre airbag tag on the driver's seat, which can obstruct movement slightly when reaching back to the second row.
The cabin includes dual digital screens: one for infotainment and multimedia and a driver’s information display that offers a wide range of data at a glance. There’s also a head-up display on the windscreen.
The infotainment system features layered menus, which may require some time to navigate, and some controls could be simplified. For example, adjusting safety settings isn’t as straightforward as it could be, and setting up functions as favourite buttons on the steering wheel isn’t possible. However, when familiarised with the system, steering wheel controls can be used to navigate it.
Fortunately, physical buttons and dials for volume, tuning, and climate control are below the screen. A small touchscreen is used for fan speed, air conditioning, and rear ventilation controls, though its reflective surface can make it difficult to see while driving.
The centre console includes a button-operated shift-by-wire transmission system, an auto-hold button, and a rotary dial for selecting drive and terrain modes. Available drive modes include Smart, Sport, Eco, and Comfort, while terrain modes include Snow, Mud, and Sand.
Front-row storage is generous, featuring a large centre console area with two retractable cupholders, a wireless phone charging pad, additional storage spaces, and a spacious front-covered centre armrest with USB and 12-volt outlets. A further USB port is available for phone mirroring, and there’s a large storage tray beneath the bridge console, ideal for loose items. A heated steering wheel is also included in this trim.
One standout feature is the digital rear-view mirror, which can switch to a video camera view from the vehicle's rear, ideal when the back seats are occupied.
Practicality extends to the front doors, which include bottle holders, making the Palisade well-suited for everyday use.
The second row is equally practical, with two cupholders in each door, USB-C ports, map pockets, and a climate control panel for airflow, temperature, and seat heating/cooling for the outboard seats. Sun blinds overhead ventilation, grab handles, lights, and a sliding 60:40 split configuration enhance second-row comfort and adjustability for additional third-row space when needed.
With the second row in its most generous position, there’s ample legroom, headroom, and foot space, even for taller passengers. The seats offer reclining functionality and include a flip-down armrest with cupholders. ISOFIX points are available for the outer seats, and top-tether anchors are provided for all three positions.
A quick-release trigger that tilts and slides the seat forward facilitates access to the third row. The third row provides sufficient space for adults, though the seating position is slightly elevated. The headroom is adequate, making it suitable for two adults, though fitting three may be tight.
For families, the third row includes an ISOFIX point and additional top tethers, though the middle seatbelt is mounted in the ceiling rather than integrated into the seat. Additional features include two USB-C ports, four cupholders, and integrated grab handles on the back of the C-pillar for easier access.

Should you buy the 2025 Hyundai Palisade
Is this the right car for you? Out experts buy or not guide.
The Hyundai Palisade remains an exceptionally family-friendly SUV, offering buyers an unmatched combination of generous space and a wealth of standard features in the large SUV segment.
It would be even more appealing without the somewhat intrusive speed-sign recognition technology.
Overall, there’s nothing quite like it in our market at this price point, making it a highly compelling choice for families seeking a spacious and well-equipped large SUV.
