Zhejiang Geely Holding Group is one of China’s largest independent carmakers alongside BYD, GWM, Chery and JAC (as opposed to the big-four state-owned carmakers, SAIC, FAW, Dongfeng and Changan). Established as a carmaker in 1997, it either owns or has interests in Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Smart, Zeekr, Lynk & Co, Proton, Radar Auto, Geely Galaxy and the eponymous Geely Auto brand itself, which was launched in Australia in late 2024 with the Geely EX5 mid-size electric SUV.
