2024 Fiat 500 Safety Rating
The updated 2023 Fiat 500 is currently unrated but did score a five-star ANCAP safety rating based on testing conducted in 2008. This rating is no longer applicable because the testing date is too long ago.
At the time it received a frontal offset score of 15.11 out of 16, side impact score of 15.80 out of 16, pole score of two out of two, and a seat belt reminders score of two out of three. The overall score was 34.91 out of 37.
The Fiat 500 comes standard with the following safety features:
- Seven airbags
- Rear parking sensors
- Tyre pressure monitoring system
Safety features such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a reversing camera aren’t available on any model.
2024 Fiat 500 Fuel Economy

How does the 2024 Fiat 500 drive?
Our expert take on Fiat 500 drivability.
The 2023 Fiat 500 is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine producing just 51kW of power and 102Nm of torque. Although it doesn't seem like much, the vehicle only weighs about 900kg so the power to weight ratio is still relatively reasonable for a city car.
The only transmission available is a five-speed ‘Dualogic’ semi-automatic, with drive sent to the front wheels only.
Fiat claims the 500 can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 12.9 seconds, and flat out you’ll be doing 160km/h.
