Volkswagen’s updated seven-seat Tiguan Allspace will touch down in Australia during April 2022.
Although it’s based on the Tiguan five-seater which has already been facelifted and launched in Australia, the seven-seat Allspace is built at a different factory, and runs on a different product cycle.
When it arrives, the Allspace range will mimic that of the five-seat Tiguan. That means the range will kick off with the 110TSI Life petrol, and will extend to the 147TDI R-Line diesel, with 132TSI and 162TSI petrol options in between. There won’t be a seven-seat Tiguan Allspace R, however.
Based on the pre-update Tiguan and Allspace, expect the seven-seat model to be around $2000 more expensive than the equivalent five-seater. Pricing should kick off just above $40,000 before on-road costs, and extend to just shy of $60,000 before on-roads.
A revised exterior design with more aggressive front and rear bumpers, updated LED lighting at both ends including available Matrix LED headlights, revised alloy wheel designs and ‘Tiguan’ lettering on the tailgate all feature.
Inside, the updated Tiguan Allspace gets a new steering wheel ahead of the Digital Cockpit virtual instruments, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto courtesy of Volkswagen’s latest MIB3 infotainment software.
Like its smaller global sibling, the Tiguan Allspace also picks up the company’s latest IQ.Drive suite of driver assistance technologies.
The suite includes include the new Travel Assist feature which combines the adaptive cruise control and adaptive lane guidance functions for semi-autonomous driving capability on the highway.
With 3815 sales to date, the Tiguan Allspace has actually outsold its five-seat sibling (3515 sales) so far in 2021.
