Volkswagen is giving its electric Kombi reincarnation, the ID. Buzz, more power and sportier looks.
The ID. Buzz GTX has been teased by Volkswagen Commercial, ahead of its imminent reveal. Volkswagen Australia has previously said it wants this sporty model, though it hasn’t been officially confirmed just yet.
As you’d expect, it has a range of design elements linking it to the electric ID.4 GTX and, by extension, the existing range of petrol-powered GTI products.
Inside, it has a flat-bottom steering wheel and what looks like a smattering of red highlights, while the exterior has unique fog lights, wheels, and trim finishes.
We’re also expecting features such as adaptive dampers and a lowered suspension to feature.
Under the skin, we know the ID. Buzz GTX will pack a 250kW dual-motor drivetrain – up 30kW on what you get in the ID.4 GTX SUV.
Currently, the ID. Buzz is available exclusively with a rear-mounted electric motor making 150kW and 310Nm. Fitted with a 77kWh battery pack, the ID. Buzz requires 10.2 seconds to complete the 0-100km/h standard.
Range is up to 425km according to WLTP testing. It can be DC fast-charged at rates up to 170kW and AC charged at rates up to 11kW.
The long-wheelbase seven-seat model has an extra 250mm between the wheels, meaning it measures 4962mm long. It also has a larger 85kWh battery and a more powerful 210kW rear electric motor.
We’re expecting the ID. Buzz SWB and the ID. Buzz Cargo to hit Australia in December 2024, with the long-wheelbase model to follow in the first half of 2025.
