Suzuki Australia has recalled 726 Jimnys for a fuel pump defect which can lead to a loss of engine power.

The recall is identical to the fault which affected 286 Jimnys sold by Suzuki Queensland, reported earlier this week.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel pump impeller may swell and cause the fuel pump to stop working,” Suzuki Australia said in its recall notice.

“If this occurs, the engine could stall resulting in a loss of power.

“A loss of power whilst driving increases the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

    • A total of 726vehicles are affected from 2018-19

If you own an affected Jimny, Suzuki Australia will contact you in writing.

You’ll need to schedule an appointment with your preferred dealer to have the fuel pump replaced, free of charge.

If you have any further questions, you can contact the brand’s Customer Care hotline on 1800 777 088.
