It's not the VW Golf R and Tiguan R that are flying the performance flag in 2023, but rather the in-demand T-Roc R.

Volkswagen Australia has scored a lucrative supply coup, securing some 1800 T-Roc R high-performance SUVs to satisfy local enthusiasts.
The company says it has “negotiated” production of more than 1500 regular T-Roc Rs in addition to 300 Australia-only T-Roc R Grid Editions for 2023.
“We can accept supply shortages of popular models or we can try to effect solutions,” said Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles director Michal Szaniecki.
“Ours is a primary R market so in addition to securing extra T-Roc R production, we’ll offer a unique to Australia T-Roc R Grid Edition.
“The result is more than 1800 examples of the T-Roc R will soon be ready for our customers, who are making the T-Roc one of Volkswagen’s defining vehicles of the 2020s and the T-Roc R comfortably our top-selling ‘R’ model.”
Volkswagen T-Roc R launched in Australia in September last year as the most affordable R model, now priced from $60,300 plus on-road costs (up $1000).
