Subaru is recalling its high-riding Outback wagon as a software issue may prevent the brakes from automatically applying.
This recall only affects current sixth-generation Outback models sold from 2020 to 2021.
“Due to the incorrect software logic being installed on the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) the post collision brake control function may not operate as intended and fail to apply the brakes automatically after a collision,” the company said in its recall notice.
“Failing to apply the brake automatically after a collision may lead to a second accident causing injury or death of vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
This is separate to a recall of 5402 Outbacks late in November for a software issue with the pre-collision braking feature.
If you own one of the affected vehicles, you’ll need to book in your vehicle at any authorised Subaru service centre for a free fix.
If you have any further questions or concerns, you can call Subaru Australia on 1800 226 643.
