Subaru Australia is recalling 78,617 examples of its Liberty, Outback, Levorg, WRX, Impreza, and XV as they could roll away when parked, due to an issue with an adaptor cord connector for the electronic park brake.
This recall affects Liberty, Outback, Levorg, and WRX vehicles with model years between 2015 and 2018, as well as Impreza and XV vehicles with model years between 2017 and 2019. All of these cars were produced between 2015 and 2018.
“Due to a manufacturing issue, the Electronic Park Brake (EPB) adaptor cord connector may not operate as intended,” the company says in its recall notice.
“This could result in vehicle moving or rolling away whilst the vehicle is engaged in the park position.”
If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact any authorised Subaru Service Centre to schedule a free fix.
Subaru Australia will also be contacting affected owners in writing to request to make an appointment to have the vehicle repaired.
If you have any further questions, you can call Subaru Australia’s Customer Relations Team on 1800 226 643.
