Skoda is permanently adding a more luxurious 140TSI model to its Octavia range in Australia from 2022.
After launching the Octavia 140TSI with Limited Edition branding earlier this year, a Skoda Australia spokesperson has confirmed a version of the current car will join the range full-time during 2022.
It’ll sit along side the Octavia 140TSI Sportline previously confirmed for Australia.
The 140TSI features a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 30kW and 70Nm more than the 1.4-litre engine in the base Octavia 110TSI.
It also features a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission instead of the eight-speed torque converter in the base model.
With leather-trimmed and massaging seats, 19-inch alloy wheels, plenty of chrome exterior trim, and niceties such as a head-up display, it’s pitched as a more luxurious take on the Octavia formula.
The model launching full-time in 2022 is likely to offer a similar feature list.
The current Octavia 140TSI Limited Edition is available in liftback and wagon guise. The former is priced at $49,490 drive-away, the latter at $50,990 drive-away.
It sits between the most expensive Octavia 110TSI Style wagon and the more powerful Octavia RS, with its 180kW engine shared with the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Skoda has sold 1042 examples of the Octavia to date in 2021, just 156 sales behind the Mazda 6 sedan. Both trail the class-leading Toyota Camry by around 900 sales, according to VFACTS sales data.
The new Octavia launched in April 2021. An update for 2022 will bring keyless entry to the base 110TSI Ambition, along with roller sun blinds for rear passengers in the liftback.
