Renault will use this year’s Paris motor show to reveal a retro-looking EV concept version of the reborn Renault 4 – headlining a plethora of other vehicles.
Renault refers to the reborn 4 as a “reinterpretation” of the iconic original model, which will most likely follow a similar template to the revived Renault 5 EV concept that premiered in early 2021.
Reports have suggested the road-going Renault 4 EV will go into production in 2025.
A leaked patent filing, originally shared by Dutch site Autovisie in May 2021, showed that the car would retain a small, upright body like the original Renault 4.

Not much else is known about the revived Renault 4 EV at this stage, but it’s expected to share the 5’s CMF-B EV platform.
While the roadgoing Renault 4 remains a few years off, it’s understood to be on the cards for Australia.
“Any new product that’s announced from the EV side, we have our hands up for,” Renault Australia general manager Glen Sealey told us in May this year.
In addition to the Renault 4 EV concept, the French carmaker has said it’s celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Renault 5 with a “sporty and offbeat show car”.
It’s unclear what this means exactly, but it could point toward a different, more high-performance version of said Renault 5 EV concept.
Dacia Duster
Renault is also planning to reveal a people-mover version of the Kangoo E-Tech electric, as well as show off the Renault Megane E-Tech electric – which is confirmed to be arriving in Australia in late 2023.
While Renault’s budget brand Dacia is not revealing any new cars at the show, it will showcase its new corporate identity, including the new typographic badge design revealed in June this year.
Dacia cars aren’t available locally but Renault Australia still plans to sell products from the low-cost brand here, including the popular-in-Europe Duster SUV – albeit in its next-generation form.
Mobilize, a Renault Group subsidiary brand that will offer its own purpose-built models, is also gearing up to reveal the Duo at the 2022 Paris motor show – a vehicle that resembles a next-generation Twizy quadricycle.

Mobilize currently has the all-electric Limo, which was created in a joint venture with Jiangling Motors, and will be followed up by the Bento and Hippo purpose-built models.
HYVIA, which is a joint venture between Renault Group and hydrogen fuel-cell specialist Plug Power, will exhibit its hydrogen van, cab-chassis and bus.
The Renault Master Van H2-Tech will also be shown off at the 2022 Paris motor show for the first time following on from the prototype version which was revealed in October 2021.
