Renault’s hopped on the black edition bandwagon with a special edition of its Koleos mid-size SUV called, you guessed it, the Koleos Black Edition.
It takes the mid-range Koleos Zen, priced at $36,790 before on-road costs, and adds a claimed $3000 of extra value. Priced at $36,990 drive-away, only 400 examples will be offered.
Unlike some black editions, the grille remains chrome and the new 19-inch alloy wheels are actually finished in a dark grey. However, there are gloss black roof rails and door mirrors and side steps. There’s also gloss black interior trim.
Sticking with the monochromatic theme, the Black Edition is available only in metallic black, grey or white.
The Black Edition otherwise mirrors the Zen’s standard kit, including a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Inside, you’ll find artificial leather upholstery on the seats, which are heated up front and feature powered for the driver.
There’s also dual-zone climate control and a reversing camera with front and rear parking sensors.
Safety equipment includes autonomous emergency braking with forward-collision warning, as well as lane-departure warning and blind-spot monitoring.
Under the bonnet is the only engine Renault offers in Australian-market Koleos SUVs: a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing 126kW of power and 226Nm of torque, sent through a continuously-variable transmission to the front wheels only. All-wheel drive is only available on the flagship Koleos Intens.
