Porsche Cars Australia has recalled 474 examples of its 992-generation 911, due to a fault which can cause the front and rear windows to come loose.
“Due to a manufacturing issue, the front and rear window glass may have insufficient bonding to the vehicle’s body,” the manufacturer said in its recall notice.
“This may lead to partial loosening of the window over the vehicle’s service life. In the event of an accident, this can also negatively affect the effectiveness of the front airbags and could increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.”
UPDATE, 4:30pm 17/04/24 – An earlier version of this story incorrectly said the windows on the 911 could detach from the vehicle. The story has been updated to reflect the fact the recall is for windows which may come loose, with no mention of detachment from the ACCC.

The recall only affects Porsche 911s with the optional lightweight glass packages (option codes VW4 and VW7).
