Nissan is recalling petrol-powered versions of the current-generation Qashqai as a wiring harness issue could lead to a vehicle fire.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the wiring harness near the 12-volt battery may have been incorrectly assembled,” the company says in its recall notice.

“As a result, the harness retaining nut can become loose and increase electrical resistance which may lead to a vehicle fire.

“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property.”
