Mercedes-Benz is recalling 8382 examples of its C-Class, E-Class, G-Class, S-Class, GLE and GLS models due to a leak that may develop between the coolant pump and vacuum circuit.
This recall affects C-Class, E-Class, G-Class, S-Class, GLE and GLS models sold from 2017 to 2021 with OM654 and OM656 diesel engines.
These local affected units are part of a global recall reported by CNBC early last week.
“A leak may develop between the coolant pump and the vacuum circuit. There is a possibility that the coolant may enter the vacuum circuit,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If the coolant enters the vacuum circuit and comes in contact with certain components it will result in an increase in temperature of these components and may result in a vehicle fire.”
