Mini is getting ready to imminently reveal its first production high-performance John Cooper Works (JCW) electric models.

    Ahead of this however imagery and basic specifications of the electric Mini Cooper JCW and Aceman JCW have surfaced in China.

    The two filings have been published by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), as reported by CarNewsChina.

    Both models are reported to be powered by a single, front-mounted electric motor producing 190kW of power, making them the most powerful electric Mini models to date.

    It’s an increase of 30kW compared to the Cooper SE and Aceman SE, with top speeds for both models reportedly electronically limited to 200km/h.

    This 190kW electric motor is reportedly fed by the same Svolt-sourced 51.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack as the Chinese-produced Cooper SE and Aceman SE.

    Due to the more powerful electric motor this will likely mean slightly less range. For reference, the Cooper SE has 402km of WLTP range, whereas the Aceman SE has 406km of WLTP range.

    CarNewsChina reports the JCW Cooper Electric measures in at 3863mm long, 1756mm wide, and 1458mm tall, with a 2526mm wheelbase. This is slightly longer and slightly lower than the regular Cooper SE.

    Kerb weight for the JCW Cooper Electric is reportedly 1670kg which is 65kg heavier than the Cooper SE.

    The JCW Aceman on the other hand reportedly measure in at 4094mm long, 1754mm wide, and 1515mm tall, with a 2606mm. This is also slightly longer than the regular Aceman SE.

    Kerb weight for the JCW Aceman is reportedly 1768kg which is 58kg heavier than the Aceman SE.

    Aesthetically, the production JCW Cooper Electric looks very similar to the JCW E PROtotype that was revealed at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

    It features a sportier body kit that looks quite similar to the JCW Trim version of the Cooper SE offered abroad, with more aggressive front and rear diffusers. The standard wheel option will reportedly be 18 inches.

    The JCW Aceman on the other hand has blackened elements and dramatic-looking alloy wheels. The filings also reportedly show there are a range of customisable roof, bonnet and mirror options.

    While we haven’t received any imagery of either car’s interior, the filings reportedly indicate the JCW Cooper Electric is a four-seater in China, whereas the JCW Aceman is a five-seater.

    They will also likely receive sportier interior trimmings such as suede upholstery and contrast red accents in keeping with other Mini JCW and JCW Sport models, plus bucket-style front seats.

    At this stage it’s unclear if either electric John Cooper Works model will make it to Australia.
