MG rolls out nationwide drive-away pricing for its electric cars

MG is standardising the pricing of its electric vehicles (EV) nationwide.

From tomorrow (March 22, 2024) MG is offering nationwide drive-away pricing across all ZS EV and MG 4 models, as it already did with its combustion-powered vehicles.

The most affordable MG 4 and ZS EV variants now wear the same $39,990 drive-away price tag, which makes them more affordable than Australia’s cheapest EV… at least in most states.

The rival BYD Dolphin is priced from $39,556 drive-away in the ACT and Northern Territory, only narrowly undercutting the MG – but is more expensive in other states, which have different on-road costs.

These prices don’t take into account any additional government incentives.

The MG 4 at launch was Australia’s cheapest electric car until the Dolphin came in and undercut it… by just $100.

MG does note this drive-away pricing applies to 2023 model year MG 4 vehicles.

Until otherwise mentioned, however, this pricing will also apply to MY24 vehicles – though there are currently no MY24 MG 4s in Australia.

“We are serious about our commitment to support the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard and once again, MG is putting customers first by ensuring everyone can access a wide range of affordable zero emission vehicles thanks to reduced nation wide drive away pricing on the entire MG4 range including XPower as well as the ZS EV,” said MG Motor Australia CEO Peter Ciao.

MG came out in support of the proposed Australian Government emissions regulations, striking a different stance from many other brands that called for changes to its launch date, penalties, vehicle categorisation, and other technical aspects.

MG 4

• MG 4 51kWh Excite MY23: $39,990
• MG 4 64kWh Excite MY23: $44,990
• MG 4 64kWh Essence MY23: $46,990
• MG 4 77kWh Essence MY23: $52,990
• MG 4 XPower MY23: $59,990

ZS EV

• MG ZS EV Excite: $39,990
• MG ZS EV Essence: $42,990
• MG ZS EV Long Range: $46,990
