Mercedes-Benz is recalling 232 vehicles across five of its model lines due to a fault with the rear seatback lock.
The recall affects the C-Class, E-Class, GLC and EQC, plus the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door.
“In the event of an accident, with the cargo area loaded, the cargo could strike the backrest of the left rear seat, causing the back rest lock to fail,” Mercedes-Benz says in the recall notice.
“If the back rest lock fails, this increases the risk of injury or death of the vehicle occupants, especially in the left rear seat.”
If you’re the owner of an affected vehicle, you’ll need to take it to your local Mercedes-Benz dealer for a repair.
