    Mazda 6 MPS and RX-8 recalled

    The 2005-2012 Mazda 6 MPS and Mazda RX-8 have been recalled to fix a problem with their fuel pump retaining rings.

    Mazda Australia has recalled the 2005-2012 RX-8 and 6 MPS to fix a problem with the fuel pump retaining rings.

    “Due to improper installation of the fuel pump retaining rings they may crack and result in a fuel leak. There is an additional risk of damage due to heat exposure from the engine and exhaust pipe with the RX-8 model,” Mazda says in its recall notice.

    “A fuel leak at the fuel tank may result in an underbody fire. A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders.”

    • A total of 2506 vehicles are included in the recall
    • A VIN list of affected vehicles is attached here

    Mazda Australia will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to schedule a free fix.
