Lexus Australia is recalling 2287 examples of its UX small luxury SUV and 9289 examples of its RX large luxury SUV that may be fitted with an incorrectly labelled Lexus genuine accessory tow bar.
This recall affects UX models produced between October 2018 and October 2020, as well as RX models produced between September 2015 and April 2021.
Lexus Australia indicates there are a total of 32 affected Lexus genuine tow bars that may be fitted to the affected UX models, and 835 affected Lexus genuine tow bars that may be fitted to the affected RX models.
“The involved vehicles may be equipped with a genuine accessory tow bar that was supplied without fitment of an ECE55 Type Approval label, which is required to comply with Australian Design Rule 62/02,” the company says in its recall notice.

Lexus Australia will be contacting owners of all affected vehicles by text message, email and mail to their last known address, directing them to arrange an inspection at a Lexus dealership.
If necessary, the label will be affixed.
Lexus expects this job will take around 15 minutes to complete, but this depends on the dealer’s work schedule.
If you own a vehicle included in this recall and know you don’t have a Lexus genuine accessory tow bar fitted, you can fill out a form included in the owner letter formally saying your vehicle isn’t fitted with the genuine accessory.
