Lexus has published a new teaser of the upcoming large, three-row crossover it plans to slot above the RX – and it’s confirmed it will be called the TX.
This isn’t the first time Lexus has teased the full-size successor to the RX L; it was previously in the back of a line-up photo published in late 2021.
It’s understood the Lexus TX will share its TNGA-K platform with the recently revealed Toyota Grand Highlander – and it appears it will also share a number of its exterior design elements.
The pair of large, three-row crossovers look to have very similar roof profiles, body creases, window shapes, and wheel arches.
The TX does have different tail lights, less plastic cladding, and a two-tone paint job that creates the illusion of a floating roof.
The previous teaser image Lexus published in 2021 also showed the TX will have a distinct front end with LED daytime running lights that have the brand’s signature tick-like shape.
Lexus hasn’t confirmed when it plans to reveal the TX just yet, nor any other details about the crossover.
Toyota Grand Highlander
A report from Car & Driver in September 2021 indicated Lexus has trademarked the names TX350 and TX500h. These are expected to be variant names.
The Toyota Grand Highlander is available with a trio of four-cylinder powertrains: a 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, a 2.5-litre hybrid, and a flagship hybrid setup with 270kW of power and 542Nm of torque.
It’s expected these powertrains will carry over to the TX.
At this stage it’s unclear if the TX will be produced in right-hand drive, or if it’ll be exclusive to the American market.
The luxury brand recently confirmed it plans to reveal three cars in “three new segments” and bring them Down Under by around the middle of 2024.
One of these vehicles is confirmed to be the LM people mover, while the other two are still a mystery right now.
