Lexus fans with an interest in food have been catered for with this one-of-a-kind collaboration: a pizza kitchen on wheels.
The company joined forces with luxury appliance brand Monogram to turn a GX SUV into a unique mobile pizza kitchen, which includes a plating station and a wine and spirits bar among its list of luxurious culinary modifications.
The GX was revealed at the Food & Wine Classic show in Aspen, Colorado.
Built to celebrate the debut of the 2024 Lexus GX, the unique showpiece has been refitted to house an array of culinary equipment and appliances, all while being decked out in two-tone camel leather and accented with brass, titanium, and Dekton slate stone.
Externally, the GX show car is distinguished by custom wheels; bronze-accented badges, roof rails and door handles; and bespoke barn doors for unrestricted access to the rear-facing pizza oven.
That oven is Monogram’s 30-inch Smart Flush Hearth Oven, which is an electric oven designed to mimic the performance and results of a traditional wood-fired brick oven.
In the boot is also where you’ll find a plating station, which includes cutlery and a rubbish bin.
In addition, this GX has been fitted with wine and bourbon storage on exterior side panels, for “quick retrieval of drinking essentials”, according to Lexus.
There’s also a rear cold drawer and an additional cold console compartment in the back seat, alongside Monogram’s Forge Heated Ice Press labelled “the first and only heated ice press in the US”. It produces balls of ice for drinks.
Topping it all off is a wine and spirits bar, which includes a bar kit, glassware, bitters, and a folding cutting board.
After Australia missed out on two generations of the GX, this more luxurious cousin to the Toyota Prado is finally coming Down Under mid-year.
In its most expensive trim (and without a pizza oven), the third-generation GX is priced at $128,200 before on-road costs. The range opens at $116,000 before on-roads.
All GX models are powered by a 3.4-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine, which produces 260kW of power and 650Nm of torque.
It’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission with low-range gearing and a locking centre differential, with drive sent to all four wheels.
