Lamborghini’s all new V12 hybrid flagship, the Revuelto, is expected to sound even better than the pinnacle of the Aventador family, the SVJ, according to the company’s regional boss.
The boss of Lamborghini Asia Pacific, Francesco Scardaoni, told CarExpert the Revuelto’s brand new 6.5-litre V12 engine has been engineered from the ground up to maintain the soul and characteristics of a Lamborghini.
He assured car enthusiasts all over the world that it will still sound as good, if not even better than what has come before.
“Starting the car, when the engine is on the sound I would say is even better than the latest SVJ,” Mr Scardaoni said.
“It’s a big claim but I would say the sound is better,” he told CarExpert when we asked for confirmation given the new vehicle’s electrification technology and the use of petrol particulate filters (referred to as OPF in Lambo speak).
“Yes, we do have OPF, we also have worked a lot to improve the OPF and improve the exhaust to create a sound that is emotional,” he said.
“When you measure a super sports car, it’s made up of pure numbers but to us what is contributing a lot is emotion and those emotions come from the sound and what turns you on when you’re sitting in the car.”
The new 6.5-litre V12 doesn’t share even one bolt with the engine in the Aventador, with Lamborghini having invested hundreds of millions in the design, engineering and production of its new flagship powertrain.
With 607kW and 725Nm of torque from the naturally aspirated V12 alone, the three electric motors add an additional 110kw/350Nm to the front and 110kw/150Nm to the rear. This means the V12 Lamborghini will do 0-100km/h in a staggering 2.5 seconds, making it just 0.2 of a second slower to triple digits than a modern Formula 1 car.
The new Revuelto will be making its way to the first Australian customers in the second half of 2024 with around 50 units expected to land in Australia next year and more to follow in 2025.
