The Kia Niro EV has been recalled in Australia after a fault which could cause it to lose drive power was discovered.
Kia Australia has recalled two examples of the Niro EV, owing to a fault which could result in the small SUV losing power.
“The Gear Drive Unit (GDU) assembly bolts may not have been tightened to the torque sufficiently causing it to possibly fail and result in a loss of motive power,” the carmaker said in its recall notice.
“A loss of motive power whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
If you own one of the two affected Kia Niro EVs, you should immediately contact your preferred Kia dealer to schedule an appointment to have the Gear Drive Unit assembly replaced, free of charge.
You can also contact Kia Customer Service on 13 15 42 if you have any questions about the recall.
