Kia EV9 recalled

Kia is recalling over 600 examples of its flagship EV9 SUV as more effort may be required to brake while using its semi-autonomous parking function.

“Due to a software issue, the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) system may not operate as intended,” the company says in its recall notice.

“Therefore, a higher braking force may be required when using the Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) key function resulting in increased braking distance.

“A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident resulting in injury to the vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and other road users.”

Remote Smart Parking Assist is standard on the top-spec EV9 GT-Line.

If you own an affected vehicle, Kia says you should immediately schedule an appointment with one of its dealers to have the free IEB software update carried out.
