The Kia Cerato nameplate may be dying soon, but it’s enjoying a surge of popularity as the Korean brand says it has plenty of examples of the small hatch and sedan in stock.
“Some Kia dealers will have stock immediately available or access to landed stock (particularly GT variant), as Cerato supply is steady across the range, leading up to the introduction of K4 early next year,” said a Kia Australia spokesperson.
Cerato sales are up 185.3 per cent year-to-date in Australia, with 6323 examples finding homes between January 1 and May 31.

In May alone, sales were up 178.6 per cent.
That has put it behind only the Toyota Corolla in small car sales. A total of 10,947 Corollas were sold in the first five months of this year.
The Hyundai i30 is sitting in third place with 5703 sales, with the Mazda 3 in fourth with 4492 sales.
It’s still not quite up to the nameplate’s heights in 2019, when Kia sold 8541 Ceratos between January and May, and reached a tally of 21,757 vehicles by year’s end.
However, it has already beat its disappointing 2023 figure, where Kia sold just 5795 vehicles in the entire calendar year – the first time it had fallen into four-digit territory since 2014.
The Cerato-replacing K4 is expected in Australia in the first quarter of 2025, with fresh tech and much bolder styling.
