FCA Australia is recalling over 10,000 Jeep Cherokees as a short circuit could lead to a fire.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the power liftgate module (PLGM) may fail due to an electrical short circuit,” the company says in its recall notice.
“This may result in a vehicle fire with the ignition turned on or off.
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders, and/or damage to property.”
- A total of 10,160 KL-series Cherokees are affected from 2013 to 2015
- The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list is attached here

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with a Jeep dealership to have the PLGM inspected and replaced, free of charge.
