“First in, best dressed” is gone at Nissan Australia.
After offering an allocation of just 100 Nissan Z Nismos last year, the company says it’s now making the sports car available to order through its dealership network like its other vehicles.
Additionally, Nissan says deliveries are set to begin “almost immediately”.
It’s priced at $94,000 before on-road costs, unchanged from last year and almost $20,000 more than the standard Z.
Nissan made the initial allocation available to order online on August 10, 2023, and they promptly sold out in a claimed 53 minutes.
“As soon as we saw the pent-up demand for the Nissan Z Nismo, and the speed at which our first allocation was exhausted, we knew there would be fans of this iconic vehicle who had missed out on securing one for themselves,” says Nissan Australia managing director Andrew Humberstone.
“That is why I’m so thrilled we’ve been able to secure additional vehicles to meet that demand. The Z NISMO is now available to be ordered through our Nissan dealer network, with deliveries to begin almost immediately.”
The company has celebrated the vehicle’s launch with a video of it tackling steep, winding Lake Mountain Road in Victoria.
The Z Nismo packs an uprated version of the regular Z’s twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 engine, with 309kW of power and 520Nm of torque – up 11kW and 45Nm.
Nissan claims to have achieved the higher outputs by improving cooling, revising the electronic wastegate control which provides increased turbocharged boost and turbine speed, as well as incorporating GT-R Nismo-inspired independent ignition spark timing.
There’s no manual on offer though, with the sole transmission option being an “enhanced” nine-speed automatic.
It rides on wider 19-inch Rays wheels and stops with bigger brakes than the regular car, and there’s a new Sport+ drive mode and launch control.
The suspension also features a stiffer spring rate and bushings, retuned dampers, and unique stabiliser bars, while the chassis has received additional bracing to increase torsional rigidity by 2.5 per cent and the steering rack has a stiffer mounting bushing.
It looks meaner than the regular Z, too, with canards on the front corners, and unique side sills, grille and rear spoiler plus a bevy of red accents.
Inside, there are unique Recaro buckets in leather and Alcantara, which lack the power adjustment and heating of the regular Z’s seats.
These match a leather/Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, while there are also Nismo-specific graphics for the instrument cluster and more red accents throughout the cabin.
