Porsche has been spied testing at the Nurburgring what looks like a 911 GT3 RS, but this prototype sure doesn’t sound like what we’d expect it to.
The CarSpyMedia channel on YouTube shared this video of a vehicle wearing GT3 RS decals.
If you’re familiar with these cars, though, you’ll notice the typical scream of the GT3 RS’s 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six is missing. Instead, it’s a lot closer to the last-generation GT2 RS.
While it’s not confirmed, it’s likely this test mule has been fitted with a twin-turbo 4.0-litre engine that we’ll eventually see in the 2026 911 GT2 RS.
Given the previous generation was a 520kW monster capable of Nurburgring lap records, this new model using the 992 platform with upgraded aerodynamics and suspension could be even quicker than the last.
The previous generation 911 GT2 RS set the record for fastest rear-wheel drive production car at the Nurburgring in 2017, and set the overall record in 2021 with the addition of an upgrade package.
It was beaten by the Mercedes-AMG One last year, though the F1-engined hypercar managed a time less than 10 seconds faster than the modified GT2 RS, suggesting the new model could be within striking distance of taking back the crown.
