Hyundai is recalling 2017-19 Ioniq Electric hatchbacks as they could lose power.
“Under certain driving condition the vehicle fail-safe mode may be activated,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If this occurs the EV ready lamp will flash accompanied with reduced acceleration and a loss of motive power. In addition, there is a risk of an unintended acceleration following full accelerator pedal release.
“A loss of motive power, or an unintended acceleration while driving could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact a Hyundai dealership to have a free repair carried out.
“Before having the vehicle repaired, attention is required on the potential unintended slow acceleration that can be overcome by applying the brake pedal,” Hyundai also cautions.
