Hyundai has announced its next ‘drop’ of the supply-stricken Ioniq 5 electric crossover will be the biggest since its launched in 2021.
A total of 250 Ioniq 5s will be available to order through the Hyundai Australia website on Thursday January 19, at 1PM AEDT.
This will consist 44 entry-level Dynamiq RWD, 143 mid-spec Techniq AWD, and 63 Epiq AWD models. It’ll be the first time customers can order the new top-of-the-range Epiq variant.
They’ll be available for all states and territories, including Northern Territory for the first time.
Hyundai notes all 250 Ioniq 5s from this batch have now arrived in Australia, with customer delivery times ranging between two and four weeks.
The brand has expanded its network of Ioniq 5 delivery agents to 25 locations nationwide.
As previously reported, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 received a bump in power and range plus a new ride and handling package. The flagship Epiq variant was introduced too.
Pricing for the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is as follows:
- 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Dynamiq RWD: $72,000
- 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Techniq AWD: $79,500
- 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Epiq AWD: $85,000
All prices exclude on-road costs.
In 2022 Hyundai sold a total of 756 Ioniq 5s. It was outsold by the likes of the Tesla Model 3 (10,877 sales), Tesla Model Y (8717 sales), BYD Atto 3 (2113 sales), and Hyundai Kona Electric (1096 sales).
Kia sold a total of 564 examples of the related EV6 crossover, which can be purchased through its dealer network rather than online.
Kia Australia chief operating officer Damien Meredith told CarExpert in late 2022 the expectation for this year was it would receive around 2500 EV6s from Korea.
This is more than double what it forecast for 2023 in October last year, when it said it would look to secure around 100 units of the EV6 per month, or at least 1200 annually.
