Genesis has revealed some more details on its revised Electrified G80 sedan, ahead of its local launch in the third quarter (July-September) of this year.
It was first revealed at the Beijing motor show in April in a striking blue-on-blue colour scheme, alongside a sportier Magma concept version.
The 2025 Genesis Electrified G80 has subsequently appeared at the Busan motor show in a more sedate Geneva Silver finish with a dark blue interior.
It rides a longer 3140mm wheelbase than the outgoing model, up 130mm.
This effectively brings it in line with the longer-wheelbase BMW i5 sold in China and close to the 3180mm span of the flagship Genesis G90 sedan not sold here.
This frees up more room for back-seat passengers, who now enjoy a pair of reclining seats with leg rests and memory.
There’s also an EasyClose system that allows passengers to close the rear doors with the push of a button, a feature previously exclusive to the G90.
The updated Electrified G80 also features a larger 95.4kWh battery, up from 87.2kWh, which Genesis says boosts range from 427km to 475km on the Korean test cycle.
It has yet to publish a WLTP figure, though we can expect a bump from the existing 520km result. Whether it’ll reach 600km is unclear.
The charging port cover also now electronically opens and closes.
Genesis has also yet to confirm any changes to the Electrified G80’s dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain, which produces 272kW of power and 700Nm of torque.
As with its combustion-powered counterparts, the updated Electrified G80 gets a restyled grille and headlights with Micro Lens Array technology, plus a refreshed front bumper.
There are striking new dish-style wheels, which on the vehicle displayed at Beijing feature blue accents.
Inside, there’s a 27-inch OLED display incorporating the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen, plus a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
These updates are likely to bring an increase in price.
The Electrified G80 currently opens at $145,675 before on-road costs, but other recently updated models like the GV80 have received price hikes.
The electric sedan is one of three electric Genesis models at the moment, and one of two – the Electrified GV70 being the other – based on a combustion vehicle platform.
Genesis sold just 11 Electrified G80s in Australia last year, against 44 BMW i5s and 437 Mercedes-Benz EQEs.
The updated petrol-powered G80 sedan is due here this month, with the refreshed Electrified G80 due in the third quarter.
