Genesis will reveal its latest electric vehicle at the Guangzhou motor show on November 19, 2021.
The Korean luxury brand released a single teaser showing a close-up of the GV70’s front end, albeit with a closed-off grille.
That indicates this is the long-awaited Electrified GV70, one of three electric Genesis models that’ll arrive in Australia in the first half of 2022.
Like the Electrified G80 but unlike the GV60 – which round out the three new EVs – the Electrified GV70 won’t be a ground-up electric vehicle.

Instead, it’s expected to use a modified version of the GV70’s platform, which the mid-sized SUV shares with the likes of the Genesis G70 sport sedan and the Kia Stinger.
Powertrain details have yet to be released, however the Electrified G80 features a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain and an 87.2kWh battery.
Each axle has an electric motor with 136kW of power and 350Nm of torque, for total system outputs of 272kW and 700Nm.
It has a claimed electric range of more than 500km, albeit on the more lenient NEDC test cycle.
Genesis says the Electrified G80 can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds, while it’s also capable of charging using 350kW fast charging to replenish the battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in “just 22 minutes“.
It also features solar panels in the roof that can help generate power when parked or on the move, as well as a Vehicle to Load (V2L) system that allows owners to draw 3.6kW from the car’s battery to power electric appliances.
The Electrified GV70 teaser shows it has a similar grille to the Electrified G80 with an inverted ‘G-Matrix’ pattern.
It’s likely the interior will make use of more eco-friendly materials like its electric sedan counterpart.
The Electrified G80’s cabin features leather with natural dye, recycled ‘forged wood’ inlays, and fabric made from recycled PET.
The Electrified GV70 will slot in above the GV60, which measures 200mm shorter stem to stern but spans a wheelbase 25mm longer.
Based on the new dedicated electric e-GMP platform, the GV60 uses a 77.4kWh battery and comes with three powertrains.
There’s a base rear-wheel drive model with 168kW and 350Nm, an all-wheel drive model with a total system output of 234kW and 605Nm, and a flagship performance model with 320kW and 605Nm. The latter hits 100km/h in 4.0 seconds.
There’s also a V2L system, as well as a Drift Mode, active adaptive suspension that uses a camera to scan the road and adjust the damping accordingly, and a face unlock system.
