The production-spec Genesis GV80 Coupe has been leaked inside and out, and it also previews a mid-life update for the existing SUV model.
Photos published on the Genesis GV Owners Australia Facebook group reveal not only the new body style with its more rakish roofline, but also updated front and rear end styling and new wheel designs.
The headlights appear to have small, cube-like elements like the flagship G90 sedan not sold here, while the front and rear bumpers have been restyled and the grille tweaked.
It’s unclear whether Genesis will offer the exact same front and rear end styling on the updated wagon.
Inside, there’s a new 27-inch OLED display comprising the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen.
Compared with the current GV80, there also appear to be some minor tweaks to the centre console and centre stack. The cupholders can no longer be concealed, while there’s now a pop-up door beneath the climate controls.
As recently rolled out across the GV80 range, the rotary dial for the infotainment system is now raised instead of concave, and is situated – perhaps confusingly – close to the rotary dial for the transmission.
The turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder engine is reportedly being retired from the GV80, in favour of a petrol-only lineup.
Reportedly joining the carryover 224kW/422Nm 2.5-litre turbo four and 279kW/530Nm 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 is the G90’s 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 with a 48V electric supercharger, producing 305kW of power and 549Nm of torque.
The latter will reportedly be the only engine option in the GV80 Coupe.
The Korean Car Blog reports the facelifted GV80 has already entered production in South Korea ahead of an October launch in that market.
Genesis Australia has already announced pricing and specifications for the 2024 GV80 lineup, suggesting a facelifted model won’t arrive until sometime during 2024.
The turbo-diesel will continue for the time being, but the base 2.5T petrol is being axed and the base price is therefore climbing above $100,000.
A Genesis Australia spokesperson said rear- and all-wheel drive variants with the base petrol engine accounted for 25 per cent of GV80 sales.
Prices have also been increased by $2030 due to “increased manufacturing and transport costs”.
