Ford is recalling 287 Ranger and Everest models due to an issue with the Rhino Rack Sunseeker awning.
“The mounting bolts that are used for the Rhino Rack Sunseeker awning may not meet manufacturing specifications and could break,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If the bolts break this can lead to the awning becoming detached.
“Should the awning become detached, this could increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and/or bystanders.”
Ford is contacting owners of all affected vehicles.
If you’re one of these owners, you’ll need to arrange a time at a Ford dealership for a free inspection and repair.
If you have any further questions, you can contact Ford’s Customer Relationship Centre on 1800 503 672.
