Ford is recalling the 2023 Puma for an issue that could stop the seatbelt pre-tensioners and airbags from working correctly.

“During the manufacturing process, the Restraint Control Module (RCM) was loaded with an incorrect configuration,” the company says in its recall notice.

“As a result, if an incorrect replacement part is installed in the system, warnings will not be displayed and the seatbelt pretensioners and airbags may not perform as intended in the event of an accident.

“In the event of an accident, an airbag not deploying or seatbelt pretensioner not activating correctly could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.”

Ford is contacting owners of affected vehicles, requesting they make an appointment at their preferred Ford dealership to have the RCM configuration updated, free of charge.
