The new Ford Everest and Isuzu MU-X have each outsold the (usual) top-selling Toyota Prado in November, with the former setting an all-time sales record for the second month running.
Finishing first and second place in the large SUV under $70k segment overall, the Everest notched up a record 1312 registrations (up 26.4 per cent) in November, while the MU-X managed 1218 units (up 66.6 per cent).
The supply-constrained Prado came in third with 1045 registrations for the month (up 45.5 per cent).
The Everest’s November result bests the all-time monthly record it set in October (1271 units), and marks the first time the ute-based 4×4 has taken out segment leadership. Its previous best was second place on two occasions, including last month.

It’s also the second-best all-time monthly volume result for the MU-X, behind September 2021’s record result of 1297 sales.
Year to date, however, the Prado remains king.
With 20,132 units (up 5.4 per cent) registered through November 30, the Prado is nearly 9000 units ahead of its second-placed stablemate the Toyota Kluger (11,786 units, up 36.2 per cent).
Following closely behind in third is the MU-X (10,043 units, up 2.1 per cent), with the Everest a quickly approaching fourth (9388 units, up 21.5 per cent).
The large SUV segment under $70,000 as a whole is up 5.9 per cent year to date (YTD), and has contributed 111,260 units thus far in 2022.
Toyota LandCruiser Prado
Just months after launching its new-generation 4×4, Ford Australia announced details of the updated MY23.5 Everest line-up, headlined by the addition of a new Everest Sport Bi-Turbo 4×2 variant.
Featuring all the same appointments as the penultimate Sport V6 specification, the Sport Bi-Turbo swaps out the 3.0-litre V6 diesel for the smaller 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo unit and is rear-wheel drive only. It’s also $6800 less than the V6 4×4 version, with prices starting at $62,790 plus on-road costs, though it retains the V6’s 3500kg towing capacity.
Despite the wide range of variants and recently-added offerings, Ford Australia has confirmed wait times for V6 versions of the Ranger-based Everest are now at around 12 months.
“Due to the strong interest in the Next-Gen Everest Sport V6, we are currently facing significant wait times and as a result we are now taking new orders for Quarter 4, 2023 arrivals,” a spokesperson for Ford Australia told CarExpert.

The Isuzu MU-X has also recently seen running changes for the 2023 model year, including new features, finishes, and a “darker design aesthetic”.
On sale from this month, there are revised exterior design elements, new alloy wheel designs, and a new auto-off feature for the blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert systems when towing. You can read all about the MY23 Isuzu D-Max line-up here.
