Ford Australia has recalled the 2019-2022 Escape SUV to fix a problem with the active grille.
“The front engine shield and the Active Grille Shutter (AGS) system located under the front of the vehicle requires modifications,” Ford says in its recall notice.
“In the event of an engine failure and oil/fuel rupture, oil/fuel might be trapped in the engine compartment. An oil/fuel accumulation in the presence of an ignition source may cause a vehicle fire.”
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.”
Ford will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to organise a free fix.
