Ferrari has revealed the latest in its Special Projects programme, a bespoke one-off track car that’s been designed exclusively for non-competitive track use.
Dubbed the Ferrari KC23, this one-off car was commissioned by “one of the Prancing Horse’s leading collectors”. It took over three years to develop.
The KC23 uses the highly successful Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 as the base and retains the racer’s mid-rear-mounted 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.
Ferrari hasn’t confirmed what the outputs for the KC23 are, but the 488 GT3 Evo 2020 produces up to 441kW of power and up to 700Nm of torque.
The Ferrari KC23 has been designed by Flavio Manzoni, who has designed the likes of the LaFerrari, FXX-K, 812 Superfast, Purosangue, and most recently the SF90 XX, at the Ferrari Styling Centre.
Every single one of the 488 GT3 Evo 2020’s lines have been redesigned, as well as the glass surfaces and light clusters.
Exterior highlights include motorised air intakes, a large removable rear wing, clamshell bonnet, and butterfly doors.
It comes with a specially developed, four-layer aluminium paint called Gold Mercury livery. Depending on the lighting direction and intensity, the colour seems to change.
The KC23 will be displayed with 21-inch front and 22-inch rear wheels, but 18-inch wheels are also supplied for track driving.
On the inside this latest one-off car is quite similar to the pared-back 488 GT3 Evo 2020. The only differences are the door panels and dashboard finish on the passenger side.
There are specific seats trimmed in Alcantara with an electro-welded logo, with a rear-facing camera acting as the rear-view mirror. Ferrari says the camera-based side mirrors can also be removed for a cleaner look.
The Ferrari KC23 is set to make its public debut at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK from July 13 to 16.
It will then be on display at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy from August 1 to October 2.
