Cupra hasn’t yet revealed the production version of its upcoming electric city car, but it has given it a name.
The UrbanRebel concept will wear the Raval nameplate, which fits in more neatly with Cupra’s existing line-up.
Like the Cupra Born, the Raval is named after a neighbourhood in Barcelona.
All models produced by the Volkswagen Group’s Spanish brand have Spanish names: Ateca is a village in Spain, Formentor a peninsula, and Leon a city.
Production of the Raval will begin in 2025.
It will be built in a new factory in Martorell, Spain alongside similarly sized vehicles for the Skoda and Volkswagen brands on the MEB Entry platform, though it will reportedly have a more premium positioning than the others.

That could mean a base price in Europe of roughly £25,000 (A$46,688). The Volkswagen Group is working on even more affordable models the slot in under the MEB Entry trio.
Cupra Australia confirmed last year the entry-level EV will launch here in 2025 alongside the larger, MEB-based Tavascan coupe SUV and the combustion-powered Terramar mid-sized SUV.
It was first previewed with a racy city car concept in 2021, before transitioning to a 4.03m-long light SUV concept with a more sophisticated look and a 166kW front-mounted electric motor.
Cupra claims a 0-100km/h time of 6.9 seconds and a range of up to 440km.
It will be the third EV from the brand, following the Born (already on sale) and Tavascan (launching in Europe in 2024).
