Limited edition black-out packages are all the rage among automakers, and the BMW X5, X6 and X7 are the latest to be graced with this treatment.
The Black Vermillion editions of the X5 and X6 are finished exclusively in Frozen Black metallic paint from the BMW Individual palette.
This is paired with 22-inch wheels in dark grey, dark tinted rear windows, and BMW Laserlight headlights.
Both the M Sport and M High Gloss Shadow Line packages are also fitted as standard, giving these models sportier front and rear bumpers, and restyled side sills, among other things.
In contrast to the unremitting darkness of the rest of the Black Vermillion package, these X5 and X6 models are fitted with lairy red grille bars, as well as red brake calipers.
On the inside, the Vermillion Edition models are fitted with black faux suede headliner, black leather upholstery, and a mix of aluminium and wood trim.
There are also glass finshes for the iDrive controller, automatic transmission shifter, and the stop/start button.
As with the exterior there are red highlights, including floor mat piping and contrast stitching for the seats — front only in the X6, and for both front and back in the X5.
There’s a slightly different black-out treatment for BMW’s range-topping crossover.
Like the X5 and X6 models, the limited edition BMW X7 comes standard with Frozen Black metallic paint, as well as the M Sport and M High Gloss Shadow Line packs.
It also rides on 22-inch grey alloy wheels, albeit with Y-shaped spokes.
Given its higher — and presumably classier status — it misses out on the red grille and brake calipers, with black units used instead.
The interior comes with black faux suede headliner, and glass finishes for the transmission shifter and start/stop button.
Australian availability, pricing and timing for the X5 and X6 Black Vermillion models, as well as the blacked-out X7 variant, have yet to be confirmed.
