BMW Australia has recalled 132 examples of its 2022-2023 iX1 xDrive due to issues with the left and right drive shafts, which can lead to a sudden loss of power.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the front left drive shaft may become loose and detach from the eDrive. If this occurs, it could cause a sudden loss of motive power,” said BMW Australia in its recall notice.
The brand also issued a seperate recall for the front right drive shaft:”Due to a manufacturing defect, the front right drive shaft may become loose and detach from the eDrive. If this occurs, it could lead to a sudden loss of motive power.”
“Note: In an event of failure the driver will receive warning signals in the instrument cluster.”
“A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving could increase the potential risk of accident, causing injury or death to the vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
