Supermodel Naomi Campbell has collaborated with BMW to create one very unique XM, revealed at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
The BMW XM Mystique Allure is a couture-inspired makeover of the Bavarian brand’s flagship SUV and the BMW M division’s only bespoke product.
The Mystique Allure is certainly bespoke, starting with its “deeply saturated” ultramarine exterior.
You won’t be driving this through any car wash, as in addition to matte paintwork there’s also a sea of velvet on the exterior, as well as shimmering sequins with hues ranging from ultramarine to intense violet.
BMW calls it a “meeting point for high performance and haute couture”, with the iridescent surfaces said to take their cues from the “eye-catching geometric forms” of the XM.
Naturally, the interior of this one-off SUV is swathed in velvet trim.
Featuring a rich purple colour, velvet upholstery covers all of the surfaces inside the vehicle.
The one-off XM even sounds unique, with a “bespoke adaptation” of the BMW IconicSounds Electric propulsion noise that was developed by composer Hans Zimmer and BMW Group Sound Design.
In all-electric mode, the plug-in hybrid SUV has an “emotionally engaging sound”, though BMW doesn’t explain how it differs to the ear from other BMW IconicSounds Electric-equipped models.
The plug-in hybrid V8-powered BMW XM arrived in Australia in the first half of 2023, with the hotter Label Red towards the end of the year.
In the first four months of 2024, BMW has sold 46 examples of the XM. That has seen it outsell the Aston Martin DBX (22) and Lamborghini Urus (21), among other high-end performance SUVs.
