The next model from Geely’s fledgling Zeekr electric vehicle (EV) brand is a rounded people mover to tackle the Volkswagen ID. Buzz.
The Zeekr Mix has been revealed in a Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filing shared by Car News China, which suggests it could be a version of the company’s Waymo robotaxi intended for private buyers in Europe and China.
The five-seat people mover measures 4688mm long but rides a lengthy 3008mm wheelbase. For reference, a Volkswagen ID. Buzz – in short-wheelbase guise – is 4712mm long on a 2988mm wheelbase.
The Zeekr Mix is also 1995mm wide and 1755mm tall, and features front-end styling similar to that of the recently revealed 007 sedan.
Powering the Mix is a 310kW electric motor, like the rear-wheel drive 007, while underpinning it is Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) that’s also used by every other Zeekr product plus the Volvo EX30.
Battery specifications and range figures aren’t available, but the Mix will reportedly use packs co-developed by Geely and CATL.
Autocar reports word from Zeekr insiders that the Mix will be built in right-hand drive and go on sale in the UK in 2026.
It’s expected to be officially revealed at the 2024 Beijing motor show.
Zeekr will launch in Australia in 2024 with a larger people mover, the 009.
In China the 009 is offered with either 116kWh or 140kWh batteries supplied by CATL, with claimed range figures of 702km and 822km – albeit both on the generous CLTC test cycle.
Power comes from a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup producing 400kW of power and 686Nm of torque.
The 009 measures in at 5209mm long, 2024mm wide, and 1848-1856mm tall with a 3205mm wheelbase. This makes it virtually the same size as the LDV MIFA 9 launched locally last year.
Parent company Geely already offers the Volvo, Polestar and Lotus brands in Australia, all of which sell premium electric vehicles (EVs).
Zeekr was only established in 2021, with its first vehicle – the 001 electric fastback – having first been revealed in concept form under the Lynk & Co brand.
