Audi has recalled 1204 examples of its Audi A6 and A7 models from 2018-2022 due to an issue with the network management control unit.
Audi has recalled 1204 examples of its 2018-2022 A6 and A7 models because the network management control unit could be damaged by spilt liquid.
“Due to its installation position, if there is liquid or liquid droplets spilt on the rear seat bench the control unit for network management may become damaged and fail,” the company says in its recall notice.
“A failure of the electronic control unit may have various effects on the vehicle functions. Restricted functions are indicated by warning messages in the instrument cluster.
“Possible restricted functions could be: Engine – The engine enters emergency running mode and continues running with reduced performance. Gearbox – The automatic gearbox interrupts the power flow in the drive train. Steering – The steering reduces the steering assistance in stages; it may therefore be necessary to use more force to turn the steering wheel as the vehicle slows down.
“A failure of the Gateway Control Unit will increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders.”
If you own an affected vehicle, you can contact your preferred Audi dealership to have the work carried out free of charge.
If you have any further questions, you can contact Audi on 1800 502 834.
