Honda’s luxury spinoff in the USA is gearing up to reveal its take on the Civic Type R.
The Acura Integra Type S will feature the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine as the Civic Type R, but will pack 320hp (239kW) instead of the 315hp (235kW) you get in the Honda. Every horse counts, right?
It’s set to debut at the IndyCar Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 14 but is likely to remain a North American-only prospect given Acura models are built in the USA, predominantly for North America.
Along with its (mildly) more powerful engine, the Type S will feature pumped-up looks than the standard car, a subtle rear spoiler, and a more aggressive wheel and tyre package than stock.
The same triple exhaust that features on the Civic will also make an appearance.
Acura brought back the Integra nameplate in March 2022. Unlike the two-doors that came before, the new version is a five-door liftback designed to be more practical.
It’s worth noting the first-generation Integra was offered with a five-door body as well.
In China, an Integra is available with Honda badges. However, this is simply a rebadged Civic.
