The next-generation BMW iX3 continues to shed camouflage ahead of its upcoming global debut.
Expected to launch in 2025, the replacement for the current iX3 will be BMW’s first electric vehicle (EV) built on the Neue Klasse platform.
Slated to enter production next year, the iX3 will rival the likes of the Audi Q6 e-tron and next-generation Mercedes-Benz EQC.
It was first spotted testing late last year, and another partially obscured prototype car has hit the roads this week, bringing fresh details to light.

As foreshadowed by a recent patent filing, The new SUV appears to remain faithful to the Vision Neue Klasse X concept revealed back in March.
The iX3 has now been snapped with its bonnet raised, revealing the absence of under-bonnet storage. It also confirms BMW’s return to smaller kidney grille designs.
Additionally, the prototype now features head- and tail-lights which are closer to what we can expect from the production model.
The front end also features a compact double kidney grille, complimented by lighting strips spanning the width of the vehicle. Another signature design cue that remains is BMW’s Hofmeister kink at the C-pillar.
Zeroing in on the newly fitted headlights, each light assembly appears to contain two circular beams as well as a diagonal centre strip light.
Moving around to the rear, the successor to the original iX3 is characterised by broad shoulders, sharp edges, and dual taillight strips. The thin light strips are finished with an upwards flick at each corner.
BMW is set to launch six Neue Klasse-based sedans and SUVs by 2028, with the new iX3 starting proceedings before the i3 – an electric sibling to the 3 Series – is due to launch in 2026.
